Vandenberg Air Force Base, Dr. Kwok proceeded to pursue a residency at the Fresno Veterans Administration Medical Center. His primary emphasis there was the diagnosis and treatment of ocular disease with focus on glaucoma, diabetes, and vascular disease. During his residency, he participated in research of glaucoma medications and a nationwide study of the effects of diabetes on the eye. He was also presented with a Resident of the Month award and received hospital director’s recognition for good service to patients.
Dr. Kwok is a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society. He has taught fourth-year optometry students the didactic and clinical aspects of hospital-based optometric care. He has presented interesting cases at the optometry residents' lecture series at U.C. Berkeley, the San Francisco VA Hospital, and the Palo VA Hospital, which resulted in a request for Dr. Kwok to lecture at the Meridith Morgan Symposium at U.C. Berkeley.
At the Assil Eye Institute, Dr. Kwok works closely with Dr. Kerry Assil regarding patient care. He is responsible for primary eye care examinations, pre- and post- operative eye care, and refractive surgery examinations and consultations. Dr. Kwok hopes to continue his clinical, academic, and research success while at the Assil Eye Institute.
